The large door ahead will open automatically for Lara. Run through
the passage and enter the sandy cave. Before diving in, ready a
weapon and take out the crocodile (1)
swimming around. Dive in, and swim to Lara's left to a larger pool in
the cave beyond and surface in the large cavern. The three level
building ahead of Lara is the entrance to the colosseum. |
There is a lion (2) patrolling the cave, so wait until it is inside the building to have Lara pull herself out of the water. Ready a weapon and take out the first lion. If Lara needs to, she can hop onto a low slanted rock that is to Lara's right as she first enters the cavern. Run to the left of the structure and take out a second lion (3). Lara can back flip onto a low rock to shoot at the lion from safety if she needs. Run into the entrance and, with Lara's weapons still readied, run up to the second step of the stairs on the left and immediately back flip away and start firing at the lion (4) that is coming at her. Lara should jump her way out of the entry way to give herself some room to dodge, remembering that she can jump into the water when she runs out of room to evade. Now, run over to the left side of the building, and climb onto a rocky ledge that is across from the building. Face the building and take a standing jump across to the ledge that surrounds the building. Have Lara boost herself over the piece of fallen ledge, and run all the way around the building, and grab the large Medi Pack (1) at the end of this ledge. Return to the piece of broken ledge and climb up to the third ledge on the side the building. Run all the way around to the front of the building and make a running jump across another part of the broken ledge, and a diagonal standing jump to the adjacent stone ledge.
SECRET #1
Don't drop into the cave on Lara's left, instead slide forward, then
walk until Lara is at the far right corner of a flat ledge. Look
ahead and to the right and notice a series of stone outcroppings
diagonally that lead to a cave. Hop back and take a running jump
diagonally over a stone slope to land on a stone outcropping beyond
it. Then take standing jump1 and run
into SECRET #1, where Lara can grab some shotgun shells (2). |
Exit the cave, then run all the way around to the left side of the building, jump over to the second ledge, climb up onto the third ledge, and return to the little cave entrance that Lara avoided earlier.
Drop into the cave, and then ready a weapon. Kill
the two crocs (5, 6) in the pit and drop
into the pit. Grab the small Medi Pack (3) and climb back out of the pit at the little
slope. With Lara's back to the pit, face right and grab the crevice
to shimmy across the pit.

SECRET #2
Part way across the pit, the crevice becomes high enough to have
Lara pull herself up. Do so, and enter SECRET #2 and grab more shotgun
shells (4). Return to the crevice, drop
and hang and continue until she is across the pit.

Run up the slope into a tunnel, and follow the tunnel until Lara comes
to a hole. Drop into the hole and Lara will find herself inside the
colosseum. She can throw the switch ahead to open the steel gate that
allows access back to the area at the beginning of this level. |
Run up the stairs, immediately turn left and start climbing up the steps until she gets to the top. Ready the pistols, reverse and start firing at Pierre. Keep shooting until he's gone. From where Lara's standing, he should only be able to hit her once or twice. Drop down to the bottom of the steps and take out the two lions (7, 8) and gorilla (9) on the floor of the colosseum. Safety drop down to the floor of the colosseum, and head toward the right corner with the cave in. Ready guns because there is one more lion (10) there. Now keep the guns readied, run over to the left side of the colosseum, where Lara can slide down a ramp. Lara will slide into a room with four cages, three of which are open. Shoot down the the a lion (11,) and a lioness (12) that attack. After they are dead, throw the lever at the back of the room which opens a steel gate at the right corner of the colosseum where the rock slide is. Reverse and find a second lever that is to the left of the tunnel that leads to the exit gate. Throwing this lever will open the exit gate. Run through the tunnel to exit this room and Lara will find herself in a pit in the center of the colosseum's arena. Before climbing out of the pit, there will be three lioness (13, 14, 15) running around above her. Lara should try to kill at least two of them from inside the pit, so they don't gang up on her. After climbing out of the pit, run around to the area where the ceiling has caved-in and enter the gate that Lara opened earlier. Slide down to the bottom. As Lara enters, run past the dividing wall on her right and then up to a grey step which is a pressure plate. Step on it to open both of the timed gates behind her. Reverse roll and run into the the room on her right and grab the small Medi Pack (5) in the left corner. Then step on the grey pressure pad to open the gate so that Lara can exit. To exit this room the following must be executed smoothly and quickly because all the gates are timed. Return to the first gray pressure pad, and while standing in front of it, reverse onto it, then enter the room on her left, then throw the switch, reverse and, immediately run over the room on the right, enter the tunnel on the right and throw the switch. Step on the pressure plate to exit the cage. Enter the doorway Lara just opened. Run down the slope through a tunnel and Lara will enter a pit filled with spikes2. Be careful to avoid the spikes. Enter the passageway to the left of the spikes and start climbing up a series of rocky steps until Lara gets to the top. Once Lara is at the top, turn around and head up the rocks instead of out toward the edge. Hidden among the rocks are some shotgun shells (6). Return to the hole that Lara came up from, and walk all the way out to the farthest edge and face the opposite rock slide. Aim at a relatively flat area on the rock slide and perform a running jump onto the slide. Turn right and run up the the slope until Lara reaches the flat ledge. Turn left and face the the balcony of the royal spectator booth. Do a running jump and grab to get to the balcony ledge. Run forward and while still on the ledge, draw a weapon and take out a gorilla (16) that is running around inside the booth. Proceed through the booth and kill a second gorilla (17) that attacks after she drops into the booth. Find the grey block in the left wall of the next room and pull it out twice. Behind it is a small Medi Pack (7) and a switch. Throw the switch to open a door elsewhere and return to the front of the booth and vault back up onto th ledge. Turn left and walk to the edge facing the rock slide, and do a standing jump back to the slide, then slide to colosseum floor. Climb up out of the colosseum floor to the spectator area via a stone block against the wall near the left side of the colosseum. Vault up the steps and enter the room in the corner. Draw pistols to take out two bats (17, 18) that will attack from above. Holster the pistols and enter the door Lara just opened. Turn left and a steel gate will slam down behind Lara. Run straight ahead into the tunnel and fall into the pit allowing a boulder to sail over Lara's head. Reverse roll and vault back out of the pit. Turn around and do a standing jump and grab to get past the pit. Run up the slope and throw the switch in the room at the top. Slide down the ramp and drop into the room below. Ready the pistols because Pierre is back with a lion (20). Alert them of Lara's presence by exiting the corner room via the passage that lets her walk all the way back to the colosseum entrance while staying on the second step. As soon as Lara spots Pierre, start shooting and back flipping or hopping backwards to the safety of the corner room. After Pierre has run away and Lara has killed the lion, run across to the next corner room and take down two more bats (21, 22) that flutter down from the ceiling. Enter the door Lara opened earlier. the door Lara just opened. Lara will enter a room with four platforms on increasingly taller pillars. There are two ledges high above her. One is ahead and the other is ahead and to the right.
SECRET #3 & the Magnums
The tile at the base of the third tallest pillar is a pressure plate.
When Lara steps onto it, she should be able to hear the sound of the
secret door opening above. The procedure for entering the secret door
at the top of this room is little tricky, but is pretty easy with a
little practice. The door at the top of this room is on a timer, so
everything must be done quickly. Position Lara so that she is aligned
with the middle of the shortest platform. Have Lara step back until
she is backed up against the tallest pillar. This will open the door
at the top. Take a standing jump forward to land on the middle of the
shortest platform. With the jump key held down use the direction keys
in sequence to side flip to the right, back flip, side flip to the
left, and finally a standing jump forward to the highest platform. Run
into the room, which is SECRET #3, taking a running jump to hurry Lara
along if the door is starting to close. Grab the two large Medi Packs
(8, 9), the Uzi clips (10), and the magnums (11). Exit this room through the secret door,
which will automatically open as she approaches it and walk out onto
the ledge.

Turn and face the switch on her left. Do a running jump across to the
ledge and throw the switch. Do a running jump back to the long ledge,
then walk to the edge facing the next lower ledge. Take a hop back and
do a standing jump to get down to the block on the third tallest
pillar, where Lara can safety drop too the floor without injury. Exit
this room and run to the last corner of the colosseum.

Rusty Key
Climb up into the doorway Lara just opened, then throw the switch to
open one of the doors in the back of the royal booth. Drop into
the water on Lara's left and follow the underwater tunnel until she
surfaces in a small room. Grab the small Medi Pack (12) on the floor. Push the block in the wall
twice then run around to the right side and pull it once to move it
away from the wall. Enter the tunnel and grab the rusty key (13). Return to the water and swim back to the
room withe the switch. Exit the water and drop down out of the room
to return to the colosseum spectator area. |
Safety drop down the the arena floor and draw pistols to take out a gorilla (23). Run into the gateway at the base of the rock slide on the right side of the colosseum. Slide down the ramp and take a hairpin left turn and go back through the open gate. After running through the tunnel, avoid the spikes and turn left climb up the rocks. Walk over to the edge of the rocks where Lara can do her running jump to the rock slide. Then do the running jump and grab to get back to the ledge that leads to the royal booth. Run through the first room to the double doors in the back. Enter and grab the small Medi Pack (14). Return back to the ledge of the booth that opens to the colosseum, where there are two more gorillas (24, 25) running around the colosseum floor. Take them out from the ledge and then go back inside where Lara can use the rusty key to open the gate in the booth. Drop into the water and quickly swim forward, avoiding a crocodile (26). Find the opening in the ceiling about halfway down the tunnel and have Lara pull herself up into a room with a switch. Ready a weapon, kill the croc, throw the switch which will open the gate at the end of the tunnel and jump back into the water. Swim forward through the open gate to exit the colosseum.
