Happy 2001

To welcome in a new year, we give you the rest of the levels for our guide for The Lost Artifact. We still have a little more work to do to finish it up, but the levels are all up for your perusal. We just need to clean up the plot and double check the walkthroughs.

In a couple of weeks, I'll probably get started on Tomb Raider: Chronicles, but first I just have to go out and
pick myself up a copy. Tune in here for news when we break ground on our next guide. Thanks for your continue support. (Old articles...)

Backtracking

In case you haven't noticed, we've begun work on a guide for Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifact, otherwise known as Tomb Raider 3 Gold. I've already published the first four levels, so we only have a couple to go before I move on to Tomb Raider: Chronicles.

That's right, you read correctly, I do plan on writing a guide for Chronicles starting some time in January.
No Support

Those of you that have upgraded to Netscape Navigator 6.0 may have noticed how badly our pages are rendered by their new "Gecko" HTML rendering engine.

I've evaluated the latest version of Netscape, and I'm sorry to have to decide not to support their latest release. This decision was a hard one, but it was necessary because although their rendering engine conforms to the latest W3 HTML and DOM
standards, they do not support previous formatting language, such as DHTML layers and older table formatting rules. In order for us to support Netscape 6.0, our pages would not look right on Netscape versions 4.7 or earlier or on Internet Explorer. Although the pages will look a little funny, the text should all still be legible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may present. (Old articles...)

Delayed Completion

Finally, the rest of the levels for our The Last Revelation guide has been uploaded to our server! I apologize for the delays, but the night I polished off the levels, my web server went down, and then I lost a HD on PC, and then I haven't found the time to upload the files after I installed my new drive and recovered the data. As soon as I get the corrections for these levels from the Guide staff, I'll remove the
temporary "under construction" page.

The remainder of the work on the Last Revelation guide just includes scattering images on the pages and any updates I receive. In the meanwhile, I will begin work on our guide for The Lost Artifact. I expect the six levels won't take too long, and it should keep me busy until I pick up "Tomb Raider: Chronicles".

From the game press, I think my piddly old PC can probably handle the latest
installation of the Tomb Raider series if they're using the same engine as the previous games. Thanks for your continued support.

Another Apology

My apologizes to all who have faithfully written emails to me. I haven't replied because my latest guide is so tardy, and I decided to invest my limited time to pushing out the guide. Keep those emails coming. I don't answer many, but I read them all. (Old articles...)

Home Stretch

I understand that things have been unusually quiet here at the Guide lately. Work has been busy and I've let a lot of emails go unanswered. To make amends, I've pounded out a few more Giza levels. I think we're nearing the end now.

Hopefully we'll be able to wrap things up here and then we just need to put in a few final touches, such as screen shots of the levels by next month.
From there we'll tackle the six levels of "The Lost Artifact". Hopefully those levels will be nice and linear and easy to document. Thanks for your patience and for all the encouraging emails.

I'm looking forward the completion of this guide. It's turning out to be our largest undertaking yet. We hope that the quality of our guides have not suffered as a result of my rigid adherence to the format of our guide. Let's hope that Tomb Raider: Chronicles will be more
linear. Keep checking back. We hope to have some more good news soon. (Old articles...)

All Hands On

Slowly but surely, more work is getting done on our latest guide. The Cairo levels are done, and I'm now onto Giza. Don and Bruce have been faithfully sending me revisions and corrections for each level as I publish them. Thanks guys.

We've made use of our a nifty secrets on/off feature into the Race for the Iris walktrhough, which displays a different walkthrough
depending on whether you found all the secrets or not. It was nice of Brian to find time between work and changing Jared's diapers to send me the walkthrough for the training levels.

I hope to get the walkthrough for the Times level up soon too.

Chronicles News

Just for your information, industry news confirms the imminent release of a fifth game in the Tomb Raider series, which is entitled,
"Tomb Raider: Chronicles". Although Core is using the same engine as the current Tomb Raider games for this latest installment. This fact doesn't bother us a bit because Core claims to have squashed many bugs and improved the engine's performance, and it likely means I don't need to upgrade my rig to play it. We're also pleased that the game will give us more details of Lara's life story.(Old articles...)

Cairo Bound

Another quick update to let y'all know what's happening. Well, I've finished off Alexandria and I've moved on to Cairo. I've spent far too much time aimlessly running around Cairo, but I think I have a clue now, so I've published two more levels of the guide for The Last Revelation. You'll also notice that the two training levels have been published as well. Brian's done a great job writing them up and transcribing the dialogue. To be fair, he got the levels to me about two weeks ago, but it's taken me a while to put them in html.
Times Coming

Brian's out done himself this time. Not only did he finish off the two training levels, he's also written up a walkthrough for the Times Exclusive Level. I just need to create a directory for it and convert his walkthrough into html. I'll try to get around to it soon, so stay tuned. I'll keep y'all informed.(Old articles...)

Another Step Closer

I've just published a few more levels of our guide for The Last Revelation. I hope to find more time to regularly work on my guides after this July. I think my responsibilities at my day-job will level off soon too. Many of you have been asking me when I think I might be done with the guide, but I don't want to venture a guess at this point. At the rate I'm going, I don't know if I'll ever get done, so I hope to pick up some speed soon.
Other Guides

I've also been receiving questions about whether I'll be writing guides for The Lost Artifact and The Times Exclusive Level. Well, I do intend to write guides for those levels when I'm done with our guide for The Last Revelation. I've expressed my protest in the past about Eidos charging fans $20 US for the Tomb Raider 3 Gold levels, but my wonderful wife spotted it at our local CostCo last week and bought a copy for me. Ain't she the best?
Outpost Shop

One final note. In case you haven't notice, I've got a little on-line store that sells some books, computer software and hardware, and other Tomb Raider and non-Tomb Raider stuff. Well, I've changed the provider of my games, and now I've got a lot more Tomb Raider games to offer you. I invite you to check it out. If you you're looking for other stuff, check out the links to the stores near the top of the page. (Old articles...)

We've Got A Pulse!

Hey, guess what? I'm still alive and I'm still working on my web site. I apologize for the month without an update or news, but I've been extremely busy at work, then my wife and I took a couple of weeks of vacation, then I came back to my busy job and a few home improvement projects, and then the power supply on the Macintosh, which I use to type up my walkthrough, dies. Well, I still have a few projects around the
house to finish up, but I'm finding time to work on our Guide for The Last Revelation again. After a few parts from Radio Shack, some instructions downloaded off the internet, and a little soldering, I have resurrected my Mac. With this news update, I've put up a few more levels of the Last Revelation guide. I assure you that I'm still working on the guide and the whole staff working on it too. I know that I'm a bit behind schedule in comparison to my previous guides, which were completed by this time of year previously; however, The Last Revelation is a much bigger game than any of the previous games with far more complex levels than before. In order for our guide to meet the standard of quality that you've come to expect, yet with my busier new job, this guide will take me a little longer. As usual, your patience and continued patronage is appreciated.(Old articles...)
