You're probably asking yourself, what's up with this? Here's the
deal: I have always wanted to keep my web site free and free from
advertisement. I think web ads are an intrusion to your web
browsing. That was all fine and dandy when I served you pages for
free from the comfort of my office in Boston, but I've since left
that company, I'm now paying for my own commercial web hosting. My
cost is currently approximately $260 US each year. I could put up web
ads and attempt to generate a little income from the 60,000 or so page
hits I get per month to defray the cost of web hosting, but I don't
want to. It's a hassle for me to put ads on all my pages and you, as
a reader, get nothing out of it except for the privilege of
downloading and viewing the annoying ads.
This is my proposal: I've set up an online store. If buy a
magazine subscription, computer hardware or software through my web
site, I get a small commission for each subscription or item you buy.
Don't feel pressured into purchasing anything from my web site, but I
hope that the next time you decide to subscribe to a magazine or buy
computer hardware or software, you'll consider using one of the links
below. This way you will be helping to support my web site and you'll
also be getting something that you want or need anyway. By no means
am I trying to get rich off of this and this is not a scam. I am just
trying to recover some of the cost of web hosting. The less it costs
me to serve you my web site, the more likely my wife will continue to
let me work on this project.
