Tomb Raider - The Lost Artifact -- General Strategy Guide

1. KNOW THYSELF
If Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifact is your first exposure to the Tomb Raider world, then this document is a must read for you.

This guide pertains exclusively to the six levels supplied on the second CD of the Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifact distribution. If you are looking for help for the main levels for the Tomb Raider 3: Adventures of Lara Croft game, then please refer to our Tomb Raider 3 Guide.

This guide assumes that you are familiar with the moves for Tomb Raider 3: Adventures of Lara Croft. If you are new to the Tomb Raider series or require a refresher course in what's what in the world of Tomb Raider, we kindly direct your attention to the General Strategy Guide for Tomb Raider 3.

You will have access to the Lara's mansion in Surrey, England, and because the mansion is exactly the same as in the Tomb Raider 3 game, please refer to our guide for that training level.

Below is some additional information about Tomb Raider 3 Gold: The Lost Artifact.

2. MORE ABOUT THE LEVELS
Philip Campbell and crew have created yet another set of "Gold" levels for Tomb Raider. These levels were designed with the Tomb Raider III engine. As usual, Phil's levels are vast with lots of attention to detail.

As with other of Campbell's "Gold" levels, these levels introduce new enemies, modifications to old enemies, as well as old enemies. The levels employ some interesting new textures and backdrops. One interesting feature of Phil's latest set of levels are his placement of secrets. They are often out of the way and involve significant side-tracks that lead you to entire ares of the level that you would not have seen at all if you were not looking for secrets. In fact, some enemies can only be found in the secret areas.

Unlike the previous "Gold" levels, this set of six levels was released as part of the Eidos Platinum Collection for purchase rather than as a free download. Again, let us reiterate for clarity: these levels are NOT available for free download.

The six levels that comprise this game are for the PC-CD platform only at this time, and are stand-alone (you don't need to have purchased Tomb Raider 3 or have the Tomb Raider 3 CD to play these levels). As far as we know there is currently no plans for releasing them on any other platform.

Because these exapansion levels are based on the Tomb Raider III engine, the weapons and moves are the same as those used by Lara in Tomb Raider II. Documention is available on The Lost Artifact CD in adobe PDF format. As with the Tomb Raider 2 Gold: The Golden Mask of Tornarsuk, these levels include enemies not found in the Tomb Raider III game.
