Lara has become well acquainted with the Fifth Artifact and its
terrifying powers2. The quest should
end now, but there are too many unanswered questions. Who's behind
all of this? What were they planning to do with the Fifth Artifact?
Why were the mutated prisoners being shipped to a closed down French
zoo? Were there further experiments being carried on at the zoo?
Just what kind of power does this Fifht Artifact have? All would doubtless become clear as Lara pulls herself ashore on a deserted French coast.(follow plot) |

The Hand of Rathmore
|
Swim forward, away from the sunken raft and angle Lara down and to the
left. Swim down toward a the glowing green area underwater. Reach
down and pick up the Hand of Rathmore (1)
again. It may be hard to see the artifact, but just reach down and
pick it up. The glowing green light is a clear indicator where to
reach. The trapdoor leading up to the zoo will open just
above. Surface and tread water over to bottom of the stairs. Pull out of the water and turn left. Run up the steps and pick up a box of flares (2). Step forward and climb up the ladder into the zoo. Turn right and run forward until Lara reaches the round flower bed. Turn left and run forward to the adjacent courtyard. Run forward to the arched lattice and pick up a box of shotgun shells (3). Reverse roll, run forward, toward the opening but turn right before reaching the square portal. Run forward and turn right after stepping down a step. Run down the steps and pick up another box of shotgun shells (4) in front of the arched lattice. An old-fashioned car will suddenly roll down the street beyond the lattice. Reverse roll, run up the steps, and turn left. Run forward until Lara reaches the adjacent courtyard and turn right. Run back to the first courtyard and turn left. Run forward until Lara reaches another circular flower bed, and turn right. Run forward, to the next courtyard, and turn left. Run forward toward the tiger cage, and turn right. Step forward to pick up two boxes of shotgun shells (5, 6). Run forward, and turn right. Run forward along the lower path until Lara steps up to a higher step. Turn left and run forward, between the two signs marked "C'est le Zoo ici3!". As soon as Lara steps up to the second step, reverse roll and retreat as two white tigers (1, 2) charge down from above. Run forward, between the table and the palm tree and take a running jump to the alcove with the cage. Reverse roll, draw pistols and shoot down the two tigers. It may be necessary to take a standing jump out of the alcove and then backflip to the safety of the alcove to lure back the tigers if they run off. When the two tigers are dead, take a jump forward to the platform with the palm tree and run forward, back through the opening between the two signs. Run up the steps, past the palm tree, all the way to the far wall. |

Zoo Key
|
Turn left, run forward to the alcove and turn right. Climb up to the
ledge with the lamp post. Turn right, run forward, and drop through
the foliage into the trench beyond. Pick up the Zoo Key (7), turn around, and climb back out of the
trench. Turn left and run forward to drop back down to the ground below. Run forward and angle Lara to the right. Run to the receptacle and open the gate leading to "La Planete Des Singes4." Turn right and step inside. Follow the stairs as they wind down, first to the right, then to the left twice and then back to the right. Step forward and vault up onto the ledge ahead. Run forward to the platform and throw the lever to open a cage on the left. Turn left, run forward and vault up onto the yellow ledge. Drop down to the ground beyond, and angle Lara to the right of the bench. Pick up a box of shotgun shells (8), just in time to see some monkeys make off with some items in the cage to the right. Continue forward, and angle Lara to the left and vault up onto the stone ledge. Enter the newly opened cage, run forward, and crouch down when Lara reaches the dense vegetation. Crawl forward, to the right, back to the left twice until Lara can stand. Run forward, turning left and pick up the large Medi Pack (9). Reverse roll, run forward, and turn right. Crouch back down and crawl back to the right twice, and then left until Lara can stand. Run forward, turn right, and continue forward past the brick ledge to pick up a box of flares (10). Take a hop backwards, turn right and vault up onto the brick ledge. Run forward, and pull up into the garden maze above. Quickly, run forward, turn right and jump or vault up onto the ledge. Reverse roll, draw pistols and look around for two white tigers (2, 3) that are lurking in the maze. If the coast is clear, angle Lara to the right and locate the next ledge ahead. Run diagonally to the right, and jump up onto or over the ledge. Reverse roll and try to take a few shots at the tigers. Hop off and on the ledge to lure out the two tigers and take them out. When both are dead, continue forward along the long straight alley beyond the ledge until Lara reaches the corner. Angle Lara to the right, and step forward through the opening down to a lower trench. |

SECRET #1
|
Turn left, run forward to the corner and turn left. Run down the ramp
into the cage below which is full of dense foliage. Angle Lara
slightly to the right and run through this first area, past the narrow
glassed in corridor, into the next section of the cage. Angle Lara to the left and run forward to the third section of this cage and take a hairpin turn to the right. In the alcove in front of the steel bars is a pair of Uzi clips (11). Grab the clips, reverse roll, and take a hairpin turn to the left to exit the alcove. Run forward through the middle section of the cage, and angle Lara to the left. Cross to the other side of the last section of this cage. Turn left when Lara reaches the far side of the cage and run through the foliage into SECRET #1. Turn right again and pull up to the ledge above. Step forward and climb up to the ledge ahead. Turn left and pull up to the ledge above. When Lara steps forward onto the ledge outside the zoo, another red car will drive down the street to the right. Angle Lara to the right and drop to the street. Run forward, toward the large gold statue and turn left. Quickly run down the street, and angle Lara to the right when she is past the second street light. Take a running jump to the ledge at the corner between the large gray stone building and the small yellow house that juts out in the middle of the street, and grab the small Medi Pack (12) before a monkey (5) grabs it. Lara doesn't need to kill the monkeys, because they don't attack unless shot at, but if it gets away with the Medi Pack and Lara needs it, she may not have any choice because the monkey will carry it away to a fenced off ledge and Lara will be unable to obtain it. Turn left and drop to the street. Run forward until Lara is past the corner of the yellow house and turn right. Run forward into the cul-de-sac. Angle Lara to the right and run forward toward the end of the cul-de-sac. When Lara is past the small lamp, which is mounted on the wall on the left, turn left and run down the alley. Pick up a large Medi Pack (13) and reverse roll. Run forward until Lara steps up onto the ledge. Be careful not to fall off the ledge down to the rocks below. Pick up a pair of MP5 clips (14), and turn left. Step forward, pick up more MP5 clips (15), and step forward onto the square ledge. Pick up another pair of MP5 clips (16). Simultaneously, two creatures will descend down a flight of stairs to the beach below. Turn around and run back through the cul-de-sac and up the street toward the gold statue. Run around to the back side of the gold statue and pull the lever to open a trapdoor in front of another gold statue elsewhere. Turn left and run back into the courtyard with the circular flower bed, and turn left. Run forward and climb up onto the block with the plant growing from it. Run forward and drop through the vegetation to the ledge below. Turn right and drop to the ledge below. Step forward and drop back into the cage below. Turn left and step forward back into the cage. Run forward to the vine and turn left. Run up the slope to the passageway above. |

Turn right and run down the leafy passageway to the far end and turn
right. Step forward back into the maze and immediately turn right and
vault up onto the ledge to escape from another white tiger (6). To kill the tiger, draw pistols, drop to the floor of the maze to lure it back, and then jump back to the ledge when it returns and shoot at it from the safety of the ledge. Repeat until the tiger is dead. When it's safe, drop to the ground and run along the part of the maze that is parallel to the leafy passageway that Lara just emerged from. Soon Lara will come to an intersection that leads to the left. Turn left, and step forward. Follow the maze as it bends to the left and then back to the right. The maze will then come to a fork. Take the left fork and follow the maze as it zigzags right and left. Lara will come to a small pit and an opening ahead that leads to another area. Step forward to drop into the pit. Pull up to the wooden ledge ahead, and two monkeys (7, 8) will be released into this cage. Draw pistols and turn right. Step forward and kill the two monkeys because they will pick up the items in this room and carry them away5. Angle Lara to the left and step forward on the rope bridge to the right, and run across to the wooden platform. |

Aviary Key #1
|
Turn left and run to the top of the wooden slope and pick up the first
Aviary Key (17). When Lara picks up the
aviary key, one of the gate that leads out of this cage will
close6. Run forward to the corner and
turn left. Run forward and drop to the lower wooden platform. Run forward and pick up a small Medi Pack (18). Reverse roll, step forward and turn right. Step forward and drop to the rock ledge below. Lara will slide into the water below. Swim down through the underwater opening and turn right. Swim into the underwater alcove and pick up a pair of grenades (19). Flip turn and swim forward and follow the underwater tunnel by turning right. Swim forward, past the channel that leads to the left until Lara emerges in a wider pool. Turn right before Lara reaches the pillar that juts up out of the water and turn right again to find another alcove with a pair of grenades (20). Flip turn, swim out of the alcove and turn left. Swim forward, through the larger pool, and into the opening just below the wooden platform. Turn right and swim forward and pick up another pair of grenades (21). Flip turn, swim forward, and turn left. Swim back into the larger pool and dive down. Turn right and swim back into the underwater passage, and turn right when Lara reaches the intersecting underwater passage. Surface in this channel and turn left. Pull up out of the water onto the sloping rock ledge. Run forward, up to the top of the right side of the wide rock ledge, and run down the other side. Swim down and to the right to pick up another pair of grenades (22). Flip turn, surface and pull out of the water onto the smaller rock ledge. Turn right and pull up onto the wooden ledge above. Run forward, and follow the wooden ledge by turning left. Walk forward until Lara reaches the point along the wooden ledge where it turns to the left. Angle Lara to the right and take a running jump and grab the bottom edge of an alcove that is to the right of the pillar ahead. Pull up and pick up another pair of grenades (23). Reverse roll, run forward and drop back into the water. Swim forward and pull up on the rocky ledge ahead. Run forward angling right back onto the wooden ledge. Follow the wooden ledge to the right, then left, and past the kink to the right until Lara comes to the corner. Turn left and run up the wooden ramp. When Lara is below an opening in the wall on the right, turn right and pull up into the opening. Step forward through the opening until Lara steps down onto a large tree branch. Turn right and walk forward until Lara reaches the end of the branch. Draw the MP5 and take out the white tiger (9) that is running around on the ledges below. After the tiger is dead, put away the weapon and jump up and grab the branches above. Swing forward, but angle Lara slightly to the left and continue swinging forward until Lara is above a vegetation covered slope. Turn Lara to the right and swing forward until Lara reaches the edge of the branches above. Release from the branches and immediately jump off the slope and grab the crevice ahead. Shimmy all the way to the right of the crevice and release from the crevice to drop to a safe spot amidst the spikes. Turn around, angle Lara to the left and walk forward through the spikes on the wooden platform. When Lara is clear of the spikes, take a hairpin turn to the left. Take a running jump and grab onto the bottom edge of the alcove ahead. Pull up and grab the box of flares (24) and reverse roll. Take a running jump back to the wooden ledge. Turn left and walk forward into the spikes. Follow the wooden platform as it turns to the left and slopes downward. Soon Lara will come to another small area where there are no spikes. Turn left and hop backwards to safety drop into the pit below. Reverse roll, run forward, and turn left. Climb up into the alcove and pick up a pair of Uzi clips (25). Hop backwards, grab the bottom edge of the alcove and allow Lara to get a foothold. Shift to the left and climb up the branches. When Lara is above the wooden platform and shift to the left. Release when Lara is above wooden platform, release and drop to the platform. Turn left and walk forward into the next segment of spikes. Walk down the spiked steps and turn left at the bottom step. Walk forward and follow the platform to the right, left, right and up the steps into the tigers cage. Turn right and run forward into the hallway ahead. Turn left and run up the steps. When Lara reaches the top of the steps, turn left, and pull the lever to open the gate. Step forward and make an attempt to grab the small Medi Pack (26) from the pedestal before the monkey (10) grabs it. If the monkey grabs the Medi Pack, Lara need not kill this monkey, but rather she can just follow it until it stashes it behind a plant in the tiger's enclosure. Follow the passage that leads off to the right from the chamber with the pedestal and leads to a larger hall. Turn left and run to the other end of the hallway, and then turn right. Run forward into the passageway that leads out of the hallway. Immediately turn left and pull up to the ledge above. Turn right, step and forward onto the yellow ledge. Grab the handle and ride the rope slide all the way to the end until Lara drops onto an island in the middle of the monkey enclosure. There are three monkeys (11, 12, 13) on the island and they will likely be making off with several small Medi Packs as soon as Lara arrives on the island. Lara need not kill the monkeys if she doesn't want to. Angle Lara to the left and step forward past the pillar in the middle of the island. Pick up a rocket (27). Step forward past the pillar, turn right, walk forward to pick up another rocket (28). Turn right, walk forward until Lara reaches a rocky ledge. Turn left and run forward, down the wooden platform. Vault up onto the wooden platform and run through the gate that opened when Lara rode the rope slide into this enclosure. Run across the hallway back into the tiger enclosure, and turn left when Lara reaches the wall. Run down two steps and turn left. Run forward and drop to the ground. Run forward, past the plant and collect up to three small Medi Packs7 (29, 30, 31). Reverse roll, run forward and vault back up onto the step. Turn right, run forward up the steps, and turn right. Run forward, through the hallway, and back into the large monkey enclosure. Run forward, to drop back onto the wooden platform, and run back to the island. Vault up onto rocks and run forward across the island. Turn left when Lara is beneath the rope slide. Walk forward to the edge of a slope and take a hop backwards. |

Aviary Key #2
|
Dive into the small square pool between the two palm trees. Quickly swim to the bottom of the pool and grab the second Aviary Key (32) before the piranha swim into the pool and eat Lara alive. Quickly surface and pull up out of the pool, using Medi Packs to keep Lara alive as necessary. | ||
SECRET #2
|
Return to the top of the island and head toward the wooden platform
that leads back to the tiger enclosure. Drop off the rocky ledge onto
the wooden platform, run down the platform, and climb up onto the
wooden ledge on the other side. Step forward back through the gate, and turn right. Run up the stairs and back into the small courtyard with the low pedestal. Turn right and return to the large hallway. Turn left and run to the end of the hallway to find that the gate at the end of the hallway is now open. Step forward into SECRET #2. Lara will find a pair of Desert Eagle clips (33) on the circular flower bed with the two palm trees. Ahead, Lara will find a large Medi Pack (34). Around to the right Lara will find another pair of Desert Eagle clips8 (35). Return to large hallway, run to the other end of the hallway, turn right and return to the small courtyard with the low pedestal. Turn left and run back down the stairs. Lara can check the alcove behind the plant in the tiger enclosure to make sure she's gotten all the small Medi Packs that the monkeys might have stolen. Otherwise, exit back into the monkey enclosure, and drop onto the wooden platform. Run down the wooden platform and vault back onto the island in the middle of the enclosure. |

Run over to the block with the lever. Pull the lever to open a timed
door on the other end of the rope bridge. Immediately take a hop
backwards and a standing jump forward onto the block. Sprint forward
across the rope bridge and through the gate before it closes. Run forward, and jump or vault over the low wall ahead. Angle Lara to the left and run back up the steps, following the steps as they wind to the left, to the right twice, and back to the left. Run across this courtyard and use one of the aviary keys to open the gate to "La Volière9". Step through the newly opened gate into the aviary. Run across the wide platform with the handrails onto the ledge that winds around the aviary. Follow the ledge forward, and to the right until it turns to the left. Run forward and drop to the ground in front of the large tree. Run around the tree to find a ladder. Climb the ladder, but as Lara nears the top of the ladder a vulture (14) will attack. Release from the ladder, draw pistols, and fire while reverse rolling to evade the vulture. When it falls, climb the ladder all the way to the top. Turn right, step forward, and pick up a box of shotgun shells (36), a pair of Desert Eagle clips (37), and a pair of Uzi clips (38). Reverse roll, run to the other end of the cage, and turn right. Hop backwards and grab onto the ladder. Climb down the ladder and release when Lara is near the ground. Turn left and step down off of the low dirt ledge. Angle Lara to the left and walk forward to the gap between the tall tree and the brick platform support. Take a running jump to the part of the aviary with the fat palm tree. Turn right, run forward and vault up onto the ledge to pick up a box of shotgun shells (39). Turn around, run forward and drop back to the ground. Walk forward to the edge of the water and take a running jump back to the ledge with the tall trees. Walk forward and turn right after Lara passes the bridge support, but before reaching the large tree. Look across the water to the dirt mound surrounding the small ledge support with the two palm trees. Take a running jump to the dirt mount just in front of the support. Turn left and run forward to the palm tree. Turn around, jump up and grab the platform above. Pull back up onto the platform and follow it to the end as it winds to the right and to the left. Draw pistols and as Lara continues forward toward the part of the aviary with the fat palm tree, she will be able to take aim on a vulture (15). Kill it and follow the ledge around to the left twice more, and then back to the right. Reverse roll as Lara nears the end of the ledge and take aim on another vulture (16) that will swoop down from behind. Turn around after killing the second vulture and take a standing jump to the small square ledge ahead. Pick up the small Medi Pack (40) and turn around. Angle Lara to the left, aiming for the palm tree, and run off the ledge to drop to the ground below. Turn around, walk forward, and jump up and grab the branches on the wall ahead. Climb to the top of the branches until Lara pulls up onto the ledge above. Turn right and walk to the edge of the ledge. Carefully take a standing jump to a small triangular ledge that protrudes from the tangled tree. Angle Lara to the right and aim Lara for the ledge just to the right of the tangled tree. Take a standing jump and attempt to grab the ledge below the metal arch. Lara will alter her trajectory and land on the ledge. Turn right and pick up a box of shotgun shells (41) and crouch down. Crawl forward toward the low end of the arch, and to the right until Lara crawls out from under the metal arch. Stand up, turn left and step forward. Take a running jump to the pillar below the rope. Quickly draw pistols, turn around and kill a vulture (17) that will swoop out and attack from behind Lara. After killing the vulture, cross to the far side of the pillar and take a running jump up to the tree branch. Run forward, and follow the tree branches up and to the right and pick up a pair of grenades (42). Turn around, run back down the branches and to the left until Lara is facing the pillar again. Take a running jump to the pillar and turn right. Grab onto the handle and ride the rope slide to the very bottom. Lara will release and land on a sloped roof of a building. Lara will slide off the roof. Reverse roll when Lara lands in the courtyard. |

| Run to the right and use the second aviary key in the lock in the base of the gold statue. This will open a gate that leads to back to the previous gold statue. Lara previously opened a gate in front of that other gold statue. | |||
| Turn left and run forward down the alley. Drop off the step at the end of the alley into a rocky alcove. | |||
SECRET #3
|
Run forward and turn right, ignoring the pit on the left. Take a
standing jump up into the tunnel ahead. Follow the tunnel forward and
to the left until Lara comes to another courtyard with another gold
statue. Drop into the grate that Lara opened earlier, turn left, and step forward into SECRET #3. Take a standing jump over the toxic goo to the ledge ahead and pick up a box of flares (43). Walk forward, down to the lower step, and take another jump over to the dark ledge ahead. Pick up a rocket (44), and turn left. Walk forward and turn right. Walk down the steps and pick up another rocket (45). Turn left, side step to the left and aim Lara for the ladder on the wall. Take a standing jump and grab the ladder. Climb down the ladder until Lara's feet are on the third rung of the ladder above the toxic goo. Leap off the ladder, twist in midair and grab the ledge opposite the ladder10. Pull up, step forward and pick up another rocket (46). Turn around, step forward and take a running jump and grab back onto the ladder. Climb up the ladder until Lara's feet are lined up with the place on the wall where the rock walls close in on the ladder. Take a backflip off the ladder to return to the ledge opposite the ladder, then turn around. Drop off the other side of this ledge down to a rock ledge below. Walk forward, draw pistols and kill two lizard mutants (18, 19) that are bounding around the beach below. After these two mutants are dead, step forward, and slide down to the beach. Another lizard mutant (20) will emerge from the steps on the left, so immediately, reverse roll, run forward, and take a standing jump back up into the cavern. Turn around, draw pistols and kill this third mutant. Step forward and slide back down to the beach. Run forward to the vent ahead and pick up a large Medi Pack (47). Immediately reverse roll, and sprint back to the slope at the mouth of the cave because two more lizard mutants (21, 22) will be released onto the beach. Be careful to avoid their poisonous green breath, and take a standing jump back into the mouth of the cavern. Draw pistols, turn around and kill these two new mutants. When they're dead, slide back to the beach, cross over to the far vent and pick up another large Medi Pack (48). Turn around and run over to the stone steps to the right of the mouth of the cavern that Lara entered from. Climb up onto the first block and proceed to climb up the next two blocks. Finally climb up into the tunnel ahead. Two corpses are floating around in the chamber ahead. Turn around and safety drop into this room to avoid falling into the pool of green goo in the middle of the room. Turn left, and walk forward. Turn left and walk around the pool of goo, turning left once more. When Lara reaches the other side of the pool, turn right and vault up into the next area. There will be another pool with three corpses, one of which has a huge hole in its chest. Run forward, and turn left. Step forward and climb up onto the ledge above. Follow the steps up and to the right until it ends at a ledge. |

Walk forward to the edge of the pit, take a standing jump down to the translucent ledge in front of the corpse with a hole in its chest, and place the Hand of Rathmore into the hole in the corpse's chest. |
