| The Russian military base's primary duty was to protect a gold mine. Your travels have brought you to these mines. Welcome to Fool's Gold. | |||
Sights to See |
Within the military base, you will find that the Russians had begun to
dig a gold mine. Behind the protective walls of the base, you will
find buildings they used to store equipment for their mining
operations. The Russians must have left in a hurry because they left behind enormous quantities of equipment. The buildings are in disrepair, but still standing. Some of the sophisticated door locking mechanisms still function. |

Local Fauna |
The only creatures that seem to occur naturally in the Russian base are rats and crows. | ||
Prospectors
|
Once again, you will have to deal with the A.V.A.L.A.N.C.H.E. mercenaries. This time, they are armed with pipes, shotguns, and flame throwers. Not only that they've brought along a few dobermans to make your life difficult. | ||
Souvenirs
|
Progress can be made through the base and mining buildings only if you pick up a circuit board, which will allow you access to the warehouse. After that, you will need two Type 1 CardKeys and a Type 2 CardKey to open a few locked doors. You can also claim the grenade launcher if you look carefully enough. | ||
Hidden Treasures |
The first secret can be found if you leave no stone unturned. The second is practically handed to you on a silver platter. The third can be found if you just stop to look for it. | ||
Hazards |
The primary hazard in this level are the mercenaries. Not only are there a lot of them, they are also well-armed. They often occur in pairs or more, making confrontations difficult. Aside from a single trap and a couple of places where a fall is fatal, the mercenaries will be your primary concern. | ||
