Lara will arrive at Melnikov Island by dropping out of a helicopter. When Lara hits the water, turn right and swim toward the crate on the sea floor with the bundle of harpoons on it, but don't stop to pick them up yet. Keep swimming forward until Lara lures out a great white shark. As soon as Lara spots the shark, flip turn and swim back the way Lara came, swimming back around the iceberg by turning right. By allowing the shark to chase Lara, she will have enough time to climb out of the water safely. Quickly swim forward and slightly to the right so that Lara swims to the right of an icy ledge that protrudes from the shore. When Lara reaches the shore, turn left, quickly surface, and pull up onto the icy ledge at the very right edge. The helicopter that was formerly carrying Lara will fly overhead. Pick up a box of flares (1). Turn left and locate the great white shark (1) that was chasing her before and draw pistols. Take out the shark from the she safety of this ledge. |

Harpoon Gun
|
After the shark is dead, face the channel of water that runs perpendicularly away from shore and dive into the water. Swim forward beyond the crates and barrels to pick up a bundle of harpoons (2). Swim a little further until Lara is past another crate, and Lara will find another bundle of harpoons (3). Angle Lara to the right and swim forward to pick up another bundle of harpoons (4) beside the submerged crate. Turn left and swim forward to pick up a harpoon gun (5) off of the crate ahead. Turn left again and swim forward toward the corner of this region of frozen sea, and then turn left again. Surface for air if necessary. | ||
SECRET #1
|
Swim into the tunnel that is to the right of the barrels and pick up the gold coins (6), which is SECRET #1. Flip turn and swim out of the tunnel and take a hairpin turn to the right once Lara is out of the tunnel. | ||
|
Swim forward past the barrels and pick up more harpoons (7) from the sea floor. Turn left and pick up
yet more harpoons (8) from the crate that
is between icebergs. Continue swimming forward, past the iceberg, and
turn right. Swim back to shore to the right of the icy ledge.
Surface, turn left, and pull up back onto the ledge. Turn around and draw pistols. Take out the snow leopard (2) that's running around in the cave. Once the leopard is dead, take a standing jump over to the mouth of the cave. Run forward, to the right of the rock pillar and pick up a box of shotgun shells (9). Turn left and run forward and pick up a second box of shotgun shells (10). Immediately take a back flip away to avoid a boulder that will roll down. Turn left and push the crate once to reveal a small Medi Pack (11). Pick up the small Medi pack and turn around. Draw weapons and step forward and enter the cave on the right. Walk forward until another snow leopard (3) appears. Open fire while back flipping away to kill it. When the leopard is dead, walk forward to the end of the cave and pick up a box of shotgun shells (12). Reverse roll and run back down the tunnel until Lara comes to an adjoining tunnel on the right. Turn right, draw weapons and run forward through the tunnel. Before Lara steps into the darkness, a snow leopard (4) will emerge. Kill it and proceed forward into the dark part of the cave. Turn left and pick up a box of flares (13). Immediately, take a back flip and a side flip to the right to avoid a icy boulder that will roll down. Turn right and run to the corner of this cavern to pick up a box of shotgun shells (14). Reverse roll and run back down the tunnel until Lara can see another tunnel to the right. Draw pistols and walk forward. Open fire and hop backwards when another snow leopard (5) emerges. Once it's dead, proceed forward to the end of the tunnel and pick up another box of shotgun shells (15). Turn around and run back down the tunnel until Lara reaches an adjoining tunnel on the right. Turn right and step forward and a boulder will be released. Immediately hop backwards to the safety of the tunnel and allow the boulder to roll past. When it's safe, step forward and turn right. Walk forward along the left side of the tunnel, around a small pit. Turn left and stay near the left side of the tunnel. Step forward until Lara can see some icy boulders roll down ahead and to the right of her. Although it may look like Lara is safe, she isn't. Immediately take a hop backwards to avoid a second avalanche of boulders that will roll in from the right. Stand there and wait until all the boulders have rolled past, then continue forward. Pick up more shotgun shells (16) that are in the left corner at the top of the tunnel. Turn around and run back down the tunnel until Lara reaches an adjoining tunnel on the left where some icy boulders came from earlier. Run forward and climb up the icy wall. When Lara reaches the top, immediately run to the left, up the ramp and past the two ceiling supports. Use the look button to cancel the view of the two mercenaries entering through the door at the top of the room. When Lara is past the second support, turn right, and run forward to drop into a pit. From the safety of this pit, draw weapons and take pot shots at two mercenaries (6, 7) that will emerge from a doorway at the top of this cavern. When the two mercenaries are dead, collect M-16 clips (17, 18) from each of their bodies and return to the lower part of this cavern to pick up the large Medi Pack (19). Now run to the top of this room and enter the doorway. Run forward and side step to the right. Line Lara up so that she is standing at the lowest vertex of the icy slope and she is lined up with the lowest point of the upper edge of the icy slope. Take a standing jump over the slope and Lara will slide down the other side. Once Lara is on the other side of the snow bank, turn right and pull the crate once. Turn left and run forward, taking a hairpin turn to the right to get around behind the first crate. Turn right and push that first crate forward once. Now turn around and pull the second crate once. Climb up onto the second crate, turn left, and drop down to the ground below. Turn back to the right and run forward into the cave to pick up a small Medi Pack (20) and shotgun shells (21). Turn around and exit the cave. Turn left and run forward, past the second crate and to the right of the icy column. Turn left and run forward to the first crate. Climb up onto the crate and turn right. Climb up the icy column and after Lara pulls up onto the ledge above, walk forward, pick up a box of flares (22) and take in the view of the valley below. The rope slide above leads to the entrance to a large abandoned Russian military base. Draw weapons and take out a snow leopard (8) that's wandering around in the icy ledges below. Turn around and run forward, and around the hole. When Lara reaches the upper part of this ledge turn left and run or jump onto the sloping ledge. Pick up the small Medi Pack (23) and then turn around. Run forward and turn left when Lara is beneath the rope slide. Climb up onto the ledge beneath the rope slide and draw pistols. Turn around and kill a bald eagle (9) that will soar in from the valley. Grab hold of the handles of the rope slide and ride it all the way down to the bottom. When Lara reaches the bottom, she will let go, land on an icy slope and slide backwards. Draw pistols and take out two eagles (10, 11) that will be flying around the bottom of the rope slide. Head along the trench toward the building. Climb up onto the ledge in front of the window. |

M-16 Assault Rifle
|
Turn around and locate the flat ledge on the right. Angle Lara to the
right and take a standing jump diagonally over to the ledge. Walk
forward down the slope and turn left. When Lara steps forward, a
boulder will roll down from behind her. When that happens,
immediately hop backwards until Lara's back is against the wall of the
trench and the boulder will sail over Lara's head. Run forward and
drop down into the deeper part of the trench. Pick up the M-16
(24), reverse roll and climb up out of
the deep trench. Run forward along the upper trench and turn right.
Step forward and slide down to the area below. Turn right and walk along the trench away from the building. Turn left before reaching the end of the trench and take a standing jump up to the flat ledge above. Pick up the box of shotgun shells (25). Angle Lara to the left and take a standing jump forward over the snow bank to land in a depression. Run diagonally to the left and vault up onto the ice ledge. |

SECRET #2
|
Continue forward and
drop down the rim of the deep pit. Turn around and climb down into
the pit. When Lara reaches the bottom of the pit, release and reverse
roll. Run diagonally to the right and enter the tunnel. Draw pistols
and kill a snow leopard (12) further in
the tunnel. The tunnel kinks upward, so climb up to the higher
portion of the tunnel and step forward. Pick up three boxes of
shotgun shells (26, 27, 28) and step
forward. Step forward and pick up SECRET #2, gold bars (29). Turn around and run forward dropping down to the lower tunnel1. Run back down the tunnel to the bottom of the pit. Run diagonally to the left to the far left corner and climb up the icy wall. Run forward and climb up to the higher ice ledge, and walk forward. |

Guardroom Key
|
Turn and face the military base and run forward. Turn right and run up the
icy slope until Lara reaches a trench. Drop into the trench and turn
left. Run forward into the building, draw pistols, and turn right.
Run forward and a mercenary (13) will
emerge from the doorway at the far end of the room. Kill him by
firing and running circles around him. Collect M-16 clips (30) from his body and enter the doorway that he
emerged from. Run to the far end of the room and turn left. Pick up
the Guardroom Key (31) from the corner of
the room. Turn around and exit this room. Run down to the far end of the next room until Lara comes to the iron gate. Turn right and pull the lever to open the back door of the guard room beyond the gate. Reverse roll and exit this alcove. Turn left and exit the building, walking down the trench. Turn right and climb back up to the icy slope above. Run forward and when Lara reaches the mound of snow, turn right and draw weapons. Shoot out the sheet of ice and enter the mining base. |

Automatic Pistols
|
Run forward, turn left, and continue forward until Lara reaches a
crate. Push the crate forward once to reveal a tunnel on the right.
Turn right and run up the tunnel, taking a standing jump over the
steep part of the tunnel. Walk forward until Lara reaches the edge of
a deep pit. Take a hop back and then take a running jump and grab to
clear the pit and reach the far edge. Pull up and run forward. Vault
up onto the next ledge and run forward. Turn right and take a
standing jump over a icy slope and Lara will slide down the other side
of the slope to an area behind the building. Turn left and pick up
the automatic pistols (32) and then turn
around. Head diagonally to the left where Lara can climb up into a
doorway. The door will have opened when Lara picked up the
automatics. Enter the room and take a jump over to the ledge in front
of the steel bars. Pick up clips for the automatic pistol (33) and turn right. Drop to the floor, run
across the room, vault up onto the other ledge and exit this room
through the open doorway. Run forward and drop down to the trench in front of the iron bars of the guard room. Turn right and run along the trench. Turn left and use the guardroom key in the lock beside the broken ice sheet to open the door to the guard room. Draw pistols and enter the room. Kill the mercenary (14) that's inside by running past him while firing, reverse rolling, and running past again while. Repeat until the guard is dead. Pick up shotgun shells (34) and automatic pistol clips (35) from the middle of the guard room. Exit through the back door of the guard room that Lara opened earlier and turn right. Run to the end of the trench and pick up a small Medi Pack (36). Reverse roll and head back along the trench until the icy ledge to the right is low enough for Lara to step up onto it. Take pot shots at two mercenaries (15, 16) below. One dressed in a orange jacket and is running around in a cave below and to the left. The second is dressed in all white and running in and out of a building below and to the right2. This would be an excellent application for the M-16 assault rifle. When, at least the mercenary in the cave below and on the left is dead, walk along the snowy ledge toward the left until Lara will walk no further. Turn right and look down. There is a small icy slope that juts out from the chasm wall below that connects to the an icy bridge below. Step forward, and Lara will slide down the chasm wall and drop to the ice bridge below3. Lara will take a little damage when she lands on the ice bridge. Draw pistols and turn left. Run into the cave and kill a snow leopard (17) that's hiding deep within. Reverse roll and walk back out to the mouth of the cave and kill an eagle (18) that's soaring above the chasm. At this point, Lara can also walk out to the very end of the ice bridge, ready the M-16 assault rifle and kill a mercenary (19) that's running around on the upper ledge of the building on the opposite end of the chasm. Turn around and head into the cave. Pick up M-16 clips (37) from the dead mercenary. Light a flare and run deeper into the dark cave and pick up a small Medi Pack (38) from the back right corner. Turn left and head to the opposite side of the cave. Pull a lever that is near the iron bars to open a wooden gate in the opposite building. Turn left and walk back out to the mouth of the cave. When Lara reaches the ice bridge, drop off the left side, just beyond the mouth of the cave to reach a ledge slightly below the bridge. Draw pistols and kill a snow leopard (20) that's running around in the bottom of the chasm. Turn around and climb down the ice wall to the bottom of the chasm. Pick up a box of shotgun shells (39) and a box of flares (40) and then climb back up to the ice wall that Lara just climbed down. Run forward and climb back up into the mouth of the cave. Enter the cave and turn left. Enter the side cave and climb onto the snowmobile. Drive the snowmobile out to the mouth of the cave. Line the snowmobile up with the ramp on the other side and accelerate it over the gap to land on the opposite ramp. Get off the snowmobile and collect M-16 Clips (41) from the mercenary that Lara killed earlier. Leave the snowmobile for now and exit through the wooden gate that Lara opened earlier. Walk forward until Lara steps down to a ledge below. Take a running jump to the wooden crate nearest the door and draw pistols. Turn right and open fire on a snowmobiler (21) that is riding and armed snow mobile from the relative safety of this block. When the snowmobiler is dead, collect the M-16 clips (42) from on top of this crate. Head over to the far crate and climb on top of it to claim a large Medi Pack (43) and more M-16 clips (44). Head back to the doorway that Lara passed through to reach this area and climb up onto a ledge to the right of the doorway to pick up clips for the automatic pistols (45) there. Now pick your favorite snowmobile and pilot it across the area with the three crates and turn right. Enter the building and turn right again. Pilot the snowmobile up the ramp until Lara is at the top. Dismount the snowmobile and collect automatic pistol clips (46) from the mercenary that Lara snipered earlier. Climb back onto the snowmobile and accelerate it toward the three windows at the top of the slope, being careful not to drop the snowmobile down the notch in to the chasm. After crashing through the windows, turn the snowmobile to the left and dismount. Quickly climb onto the ledge, reverse roll, and draw pistols. Side step to the left and a eventually another snowmobiler (22) will arrive. Kill him and turn around. Walk forward and drop onto the platform that extends into the frozen lake. Turn left and take a standing jump to the platform that runs along the left side of this area. When Lara reaches the corner, turn left and enter the alcove. Pull the lever to raise the large gates high above this area, releasing several boulders which will crash through the surface of the frozen pond, and also opening the door to the shack. Reverse roll and draw weapons. Charge forward the shack and turn right. A mercenary (23) will emerge from the doorway, so open fire on him while running past him repeatedly until he is killed. Pick up a small Medi Pack (47) and M-16 clips (48). Now drop into the water in the corner on the side near the shack and swim down into the hole. Follow the tunnel as it heads down deep and turns to the right. There is a shaft just past the turn that leads up where Lara can surface for air. Continue forward, past the wooden wall and the tunnel will narrow. Eventually Lara will end up in a large cavern. Run forward toward the left corner to the snow bank. Turn left and vault up onto the snow bank. Run forward and turn right. Vault up higher onto the snow bank. Run forward, turn right and continue forward. Climb up onto the block of ice and turn left. This may be a good place to save. Take a good look around the ice palace. Ahead are walkways made of sheets of ice. The ice walkway will breakaway as Lara steps onto them4. Run forward and take a running jump up onto the pillar of ice. Turn right and run forward, dropping down onto the ice walkway. Continue forward until Lara reaches the next column of ice. Turn left and run forward until Lara reaches the final ice column. Pick up the large Medi Pack (49) and two boulders will drop from the ceiling, and crash down through the ice floor below. Turn left and take a running jump to the snowy slope. Run forward until Lara reaches a corner. Angle Lara to the right and take a jump, through the space between snow banks, down to the snowy ledge below. Run forward to the corner and turn left. Continue along the wall of the cavern until Lara slides down into a trench. Step forward and climb up onto the snowy ledge above. Run forward until Lara drops into the corner of the cavern. Turn left and run forward until Lara drops down to the bottom of the snow bank. Turn right to find that the pool that Lara swam in from is now frozen. Run forward to the corner of the frozen pond and turn left. Run up the steps and turn right. Vault up onto the ledge and turn left. Collect Uzi clips (50) and grenades (51) from the ledge. Turn left and drop down off the ledge onto the frozen pond. Run forward to the mouth of the cave. Step forward and slide down the frozen blue ramps. Lara will slide down the first ramp, land on a second ramp, slide down to the right, land on a small third ramp, and finally slide forward to a stop. Step forward and turn right. Walk forward and look around carefully. If Lara looks carefully enough, she can see four Inuit warrior spirits (24, 25, 26, 27) wandering around this lower area. If Lara chooses not to attack the spirits, they will not attack her and will assist her by attacking her enemies. |

SECRET #3
|
Turn left and step forward and turn right. Locate the ice wall that blocks access to SECRET #3, the gold skull (52). Shoot out the ice wall and step inside. Reverse roll, so that Lara is facing out of the icy alcove and pick up the skull. Three mercenaries (28, 29, 30) will burst into the area. Draw weapons, rush forward and attack the mercenaries. When the mercenaries are dead, pick up a small Medi Pack (53) and Uzi clips (54) from the mercenary dressed in all white, and Uzi clips (55) and shotgun shells (56) from the bodies of the other two mercenaries. | ||

Turn right5.
Locate the two ice windows in the back corner of the cavern.
Draw pistols and shoot out the window on the right5.
Step into the tunnel, which is made of all ice and loops back around
and notice a snow leopard (31) that will
be charging from the other end of the tunnel. Back out of the tunnel,
draw weapons and wait for the leopard to emerge at the other end to
kill it. Reenter the tunnel and run all the way to the end of the
tunnel. At the top, turn right and run forward. Climb up the ice wall until Lara reaches the top of the shaft. Pull up, turn around and take an angled standing jump to the left to reach the adjacent tunnel. When Lara lands in the adjacent tunnel, the door that leads back into the shack will open. Step forward, turn left and reenter the shack6. Turn left and exit the shack. Turn right and follow the platform along the right wall, turning left twice. Take a standing jump to the short platform that extends into the pond and turn right. Vault up into the entrance to this area and cross the central courtyard. Run up through the opposite entrance, which was formerly blocked off by windows. Draw weapons, and turn right to take aim on a mercenary (32) dressed in a orage ski jacket on the right. Take a few side flips to the right back out of the entrance back down to the courtyard without letting Lara lose her target. She can kill him from the safety of the courtyard. When the mercenary is dead, head for the left side of the entrance. Hug the right wall until Lara can see another mercenary (33) dressed in white. Turn left and jump up and down to shoot at this mercenary. When the mercenaries are dead, turn around and take a running jump up to the opposite platform. Collect M-16 clips (57) from the dead mercenary, and head over to the switch on the wall to the left of the entrance to this area. Pull the lever to open the wooden gate at the top of the ramp. Reverse roll and head up the slope and stand to one side of the open gate. Draw pistols and side flip back and forth across the open gateway while firing to kill the mercenary (34) outside. When he's dead, step through the gateway, and climb onto the stone wall to retrieve a small Medi Pack (58) that the mercenary was carrying. Drop off the wall to the snowy ramp and run back through the open gate. Take a jump onto the wooden platform to pick up a box of flares (59). Head over to the other mercenary that Lara shot earlier and collect clips for the automatic pistol (60) from his body. Head back along the stone wall beside the wooden platform that Lara just picked up the flares7. Make sure Lara's health is nearly full before proceeding. |

Uzi's
|
Run until Lara is all the way back to the wall with the wooden gate.
Turn left and face the snowy hill on the left. Side step to the left
two steps and aim Lara toward the flat part of the snow hill. Take a
running jump over the snow hill and keep the jump key depressed. When
Lara bounces off the slope beyond the hill, angle Lara to the right,
so that she lands on the next slope and slides backwards. Grab the
bottom edge of the slope and shimmy to the left until Lara will go no
further. Release the slope and drop to the bottom of the pit. Lara
will take an enormous amount of damage when she lands. Turn around
and light a flare if necessary to see. Run forward and pick up Uzi
clips (61), a large Medi Pack (62), and the Uzi's (63). Run forward and climb up the wall of ice
until Lara reaches the top. Pull up and an icy wall will close behind
Lara. Run forward and drop down off the ledge to the snow below. Turn left to return to the central courtyard. Climb onto any snowmobile and head up the slope to the wooden gate. Drive the snowmobile through the wooden gate and turn right. Accelerate the snowmobile hard so that it jumps over a pit just beyond the slope. Pilot the snowmobile up the next ramp, and carefully turn it to the right and steer it through the opening at the bottom of the next ramp, being careful to keep the snowmobile centered. Snowy boulders will roll down both sides of that ramp. |

Shaft 'B' Key
|
Pilot the snowmobile through a flat section of the tunnel. In the
next tunnel, which slopes upwards, open fire on another mercenary
(35). Lara will have to dismount to
shoot at the mercenary if she is not driving one of the armed
snowmobiles8. When the mercenary is
dead, collect clips for the automatic pistols (64) from his body and pick up the large Medi
Pack (65) that is nearby. Soon another
mercenary (34) will arrive through the
opening that Lara just drove the snowmobile through. Kill the second
mercenary and collect the Shaft 'B' Key (66) and grenades (67) from his body. Continue on foot to the top of the tunnel. Run through the small opening and use the shaft 'B' key in the lock beside the wooden gate. Side step to the right once the gate is opened and vault up into the doorway. Immediately hop backwards out of the doorway and draw weapons to kill a snow leopard (37) that's lurking outside from the safety of the ground. Once the leopard is dead, vault back into the doorway and step outside onto the bridge. Cross over to the other room and drop to the floor inside. Turn right and vault up onto the ledge. Turn left and run forward to pull the lever to open the steel door at the top of the previous tunnel. Turn around, exit this room and cross the bridge. Drop back into the tunnel and turn right. Draw weapons and run up the tunnel and take a running jump into the dark room beyond the steel door that Lara just opened. Kill a mercenary (38) that's guarding the room and pick up some grenades (68) from his body. Exit through the opening to the left of the steel door and draw weapons. Turn left, charge forward, and up the stairs to the left. Kill two mercenaries (39, 40) and an eagle (41) that are in the area outside. Return to pick up the shotgun shells (69) from on top of the crate inside the room. Outside, collect a small Medi Pack (70) from the dead mercenary dressed in all white and a box of shotgun shells (71) from the mercenary in the orange jacket. Continue across the roof, walking to the right of the structure with four columns in the middle of the roof. Draw pistols and carefully peek around the corner When Lara reaches the second pair of columns. Take aim and kill a mercenary (42) that's high up on a catwalk above and to the left. Take a quick run around the far side of the roof to notice the steel grate in the center of the open area. Quick return to the safety of the structure and kill a second mercenary (43) that's running around on the catwalk. When both are dead, pull the lever inside the structure to open the steel grate in the roof. Climb over the wall with the switch and run forward. Drop into the shaft and Lara will fall into a pool below. Surface and turn right tread water down the shallow tunnel. There is an Inuit warrior spirit9 (44) wandering around at the end of the tunnel. If Lara is after maximum kills, swim sideways until Lara is standing torso deep in the water and draw pistols to take out this spirit. Otherwise, head toward the end of this tunnel to exit this area. |
