Once again Lara's on the hunt for a new adventure. This time, her adventures have brought her to Melnikov Island in the Berring Sea. Her search for the Golden Mask of Tornasuk will lead her to the remnants of The Cold War between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic.
Sights to See
 Welcome to Melnikov Island. On this island lies an abandoned Russian military base from the nineteen forties. Formerly the center of a large gold mining operation, the base was suddenly abandoned. With rumors that there is yet more gold to be found on this island, interest in this island was renewed.

Some of the facilities of the military base have been rehabilitated to accomodate the newly arrived personnel, while much of the rest of the base is left in it's original state of decay.

As you venture through this island, be sure to take the time to appreciate the beautiful Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights), but watch your step. The mountainous island is covered with ice and there are many deep chasms. A fall into one of these chasms is guaranteed to be fatal.
Local Fauna
 Around the island is a glacial sea. Although generally rare, there have been reports of sightings of a great white shark in those waters. On the island, you will find it to be the home of snow leopards and a variety of arctic eagle.
Prospectors
Members of an organization known only as A.V.A.L.A.N.C.H.E. have arrived ahead of you. They're known for being international terrorists and mercenaries. They've expanded their business ventures into mining. Watch out for these fellows.
Ghost Stories
 Beneath the surface, you will may encounter some restless spirits. They're restless, but not malevolent... unless you make them angry.
Souvenirs
There are two keys you will need in order to infiltrate the military base. Beside those keys, there's an enormous arsenal to be found and retrieved.
Hidden Treasures
 The first secret will be the easiest to miss, as you will be hurrying by. The second is placed in a wickedly out-of-the-way location. The final secret is incredibly hard to miss. The trouble begins once you obtain it.
Hazards
 The mountainous terrain provides lots of opportunities for you to fall down a deep chasm or be squished by icy boulders. Besides natural dangers, there is a small army of mercenaries on the island. After all that, you'll think the snow leopards and eagles are a treat to encounter.
