Who cares? Well, if you do, then you should read on...

First off, it's necessary to clarify: if you're wondering what I do for a living, or if you're looking for my FAQ file on Realmz, etc... check in my "What" page. It may help you to navigate around mypages if you can understand my organization scheme:

I took my old home page, and divided it up into categories:
  • Things that pertain to "Who I am"
  • Things that pertain to "What I do"
  • Things that pertain to "Where I am" [that would be San Diego!]
  • And finally... some random things pertaining to "Why I put up these pages"
It would help you to understand why the things on "Who" page are where they are and why the things on the "What" page are where they are. It's based ona saying that I picked up years back: "Never let what you do confuse you of who you are". [author long forgotten]

Well... here goes...

My name, as you may have noticed, is Ivans Chou. Why is my name plural? This indeed is one of the great mysteries of life. (Mine at least.) Feel free to choose from the following answers:
  • My father wanted twins.
  • I have multiple personality disorder/syndrome.
  • This is my father's little joke on me.
I am a Christian and I'm not ashamed to admit it. My wife and I used to attend the Chinese Bible Church of Greater Boston located in Lexington, MA, but since we moved to San Diego we've been looking for a new church to settle into.

My wife and I have been happily married for years. There's a couple of wedding pictures above for you to look at. I am Chinese-American, born in Taipei, Taiwan, raised in Southern California. I've spent the past decade of my life living in Boston, but have recently moved to San Diego, CA.

I left sunny California for Boston in 1989 to attend college at Boston University to study Biomedical Engineering. In the spring of 1993 I graduated with a BS in Biomedical Engineering, and continued on to do graduate work at Boston University. I received my MS, also in Biomedical Engineering, concentrating in computational visual neuroscience in winter 1995. My MS thesis focused on computer assisted mapping of the human brain in three-dimensions, reconstructed from multiple two-dimensional magnetic resonance image slices. Research was conducted in the Intelligent Systems Laboratory at Boston Univeristy in conjunction with the Center for Morphometric Analysis at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Surgical Planning Laboratory at the Brigham and Women's Hospital under the direction of Dr. Lucia M. Vaina and Dr. David Kennedy.
